Cruise ships calling at Bilbao dock in the affluent suburb of Getxo

Cruise ships calling at Bilbao will now dock in the affluent suburb of Getxo, offering easy access to the city centre and a variety of attractions. The new port is located just 10 minutes from Bilbao by metro, and is close to a number of beaches, parks and museums.

The first cruise ship to dock at the new port was the Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas, which arrived on 1 May. The ship was carrying over 4,000 passengers, who were able to disembark and explore Getxo and the surrounding area.

The arrival of cruise ships at Getxo is expected to boost the local economy and create new jobs. The port is also expected to attract more tourists to Bilbao, which is already a popular destination for visitors from around the world.
