Madrid, Spain - The Banco de España has released the first images of the upcoming new euro banknotes, set to enter circulation in 2024. The new notes feature a redesigned look and enhanced security features to ensure their authenticity and prevent counterfeiting.
The most striking feature of the new banknotes is their vibrant "emerald green" color, which is intended to symbolize the stability, growth, and sustainability of the eurozone. The design incorporates modern architectural elements that reflect the diverse European cultures. The obverse (front) of the note features a large window that provides a panoramic view of a different European city on each denomination.
Security has been a top priority in the design of the new banknotes. They include several advanced features, including a holographic stripe with a 3D effect, raised printing, and an updated watermark. These features make it extremely difficult to counterfeit and ensure the integrity of the euro currency.
